This instrument is the advanced version of J.G. Stauffers famous "Legnani-Model".  Its quick response and high dynamic qualities  makes it ideally suited for the virtuous literature of  Giuliani, Legnani, Mertz or Coste.

This is my most favorite and also most asked romantic guitar. I have build it more than 100 times during the last 15 years and I am working continuosly to improve it. It is used for concert performance and recordings by guitarists like Öffnet externen Link in neuem FensterSteidlÖffnet externen Link in neuem FensterPegoraroÖffnet externen Link in neuem FensterEliasÖffnet externen Link in neuem FensterMangold and many others Öffnet internen Link im aktuellen Fenster(references)   Also as Öffnet internen Link im aktuellen Fenster7-or 8-string available.

The Stauffer family

Johann Georg Stauffer (1778-53) was the most important guitarmaker of the viennese school. His "Legnani-modell" a guitar that he developped in cooperation with the famous guitar-virtuoso Luigi Legnani in 1821, was subject of numerous innovations and it was copied by guitarmakers in and outside Vienna for many more years.

His son Anton Stauffer (1805-1871) refines and markets the ideas of his father. The instrument shown above, a variation of the Legnani-model, he builds for almost 20 years until the end of the 18forties.
